The man behind The Ivy Restaurant, Gurugram, is Shailendra Tiwari who happens to be an unassuming, simple and a humble person, hailing from central India. His family business of farming paved a path for his utmost care and love for nature which resulted in a stunning jungle resort called “Tiger’s Den”, in Bandhavgarh, Madhya Pradesh.
Shailendra studied in the Bhopal University and pursued a degree in hotel management from IHM Bhopal way back in the late 80s. He started his career with the Taj group of Hotels, where he learnt the art of true customer service and how to ensure the optimum experience for guests. He spent almost 2 decades with the Taj and worked in F&B operations; during his stint, he was chosen to launch various new properties of the Taj as a core member of the launch team. The Taj hotels carved the professional out of Shailendra by exposing him to several high pressure Banquet roles at speciality silver service restaurants. Over the years he gathered great hands on work exposure at the Taj, and at the same time started dreaming of his own business.
His entrepreneurial bent of mind inspired him to get closer to nature by launching his resort, the “Tiger’s Den” and gave his customers a great experience. However, being a true-blue F&B person, he always craved to launch something unique and different. He dabbled with the idea and thought of various places where his dream of a restaurant would come true. Eventually he found just the right location to see his vision through at the Baani Square restaurant complex in the NCR region. He had a variety of choices of cuisines to choose from – however, seeing the need to bridge the gap in Continental and Mediterranean food, he decided to go with the same. It’s Shailendra’s efforts and commitment to all his customers because of which they will be served only the best food which shall have the authentic flavours and ingredients. Each dish is crafted by chefs who are trained and passionate towards customer’s needs and provide great service.
